STRATEGIC MARKETING INVOLVES THE WRITING OF POWERFUL COMMUNICATIONS

Your objective is to assess the key skills and personal qualities that should be highlighted in your resume. When doing this you need to review your career history and develop appropriate structure for your resume. This is followed by the drafting after review of your resume - making appropriate modifications prior to its’ finalisation. Always ensure that your covering written communication represents you as effectively as possible.

A POSITIONING STEP

Having your resume at hand is an important positioning step for attaining new employment. You will be in a position to respond quickly to an attractive job opportunity. A strategic resume sends a clear message to an employer - when you are interested in being considered for their positions.

This resume is a factual document about your history. It will need to clearly demonstrate your interest in advancement. Your decision to write your resume is a commitment to your career management - you are change ready! REMEMBER your resume is a ceremonial job search practice widely expected and used. It is a traditional tool in hiring and job seeking; it plays a major role in communications between employers and applicants. If it has so much importance in getting us noticed why is it that we spend so little time working on its’ powerful construction?

Regrettably this powerful communications tool is often put together with so little understanding of the importance it plays in getting you in front of the decision-maker. Also much of the advice that is given about how to write a resume is outdated and in today’s competitive employment marketplace you must know how to stand out. This does not mean writing a resume that is going to eliminate you!

In order to be effective this document must be a powerful conveyor of meaning. This can only be done through developing a strategic resume - one where you will make a vital and valuable statement about yourself. It can become your most effective resource therefore it is worth a great deal of thought. It will need to reflect you at your best and be a key aid in your job search communication. In the writing of it you will build a clear and convincing case for your candidacy and it will help you stand out from the thousands of other resumes.

You have a limited amount of space - two pages at the most - to present yourself to an employer! You have a lot to gain from a strategic approach to your resume. It will offer you the means to stand out in your job search, moving beyond the routine scope of your vital statistics to provide convincing support for you being hired.

A strong resume can influence your job search - hiring decisions are made on the basis of personal contact. Employers may be receptive to interviewing you on the basis of your resume; they will decide about hiring you on the basis of their DIRECT experience of you.

YOUR RESUME IS A VITAL MARKETING TOOL GIVE IT YOUR BEST - WORK AT THINKING ABOUT EVERY DETAIL OF ITS’ DESIGN

AN EXERCISE IN PERSONAL GROWTH
Writing your resume can be a very powerful exercise in personal growth. Defining the focus of your resume requires careful thought and analysis - consider what you would really like to do what you know you can do and how much you do want to do it. Identify your personal qualities and attitudes that support your effectiveness, it is highly pleasurable and a tremendous source of self-esteem. You will identify and focus on your most important assets. When identifying what you do best you will define the ways in which you make a difference, in which you have made an impact. Recalling examples of excellent performance of personal contribution, of the value adding that your performance brought to your organisation.

Through the analysis of your strengths you will build a more positive self-concept. This will develop in you an understanding of your true capabilities and your true potential; you will work with this throughout your career. When an employer asks

  ·  Why are you here?
  ·  What can you do for me?
  ·  Why should I hire you?

YOU WILL WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS CLEARLY DEMONSTRATING THAT YOU ARE THE BEST PERSON FOR THEIR ROLE!
